General Questions
HBOT is a treatment that involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber to enhance oxygen absorption, promote healing, and reduce inflammation.
By increasing atmospheric pressure, HBOT allows more oxygen to dissolve into the bloodstream, delivering it to tissues and organs at a higher rate to accelerate recovery.
HBOT is FDA-approved for conditions like chronic wounds, carbon monoxide poisoning, decompression sickness, and radiation injuries. It is also used for off-label conditions such as athletic recovery, anti-aging, and neurological conditions.
The number of sessions depends on the condition being treated. Acute conditions may require a few sessions, while chronic conditions often need 20-40 treatments for optimal results.
Yes, HBOT is a well-researched medical treatment. While rare side effects can occur, such as temporary ear discomfort or vision changes, the therapy is generally considered safe when performed under medical supervision.
Hyperbaric chambers are FDA-regulated Class II medical devices, requiring a prescription for treatment. If you don’t have a prescription, we can help facilitate one through our streamlined process.
Treatment Experience
Many people compare the sensation to being in an airplane. As the pressure changes, you may feel your ears pop, similar to takeoff and landing. Most people find the experience relaxing.
Yes! Our chambers are spacious and designed for comfort, with pillows, blankets, and adjustable lighting. Many people use the time to relax, meditate, or nap.
Each chamber is equipped with a walkie-talkie so you can talk to your HBOT technician at any time. Our team is always monitoring your session.
You can read, meditate, journal, or simply rest. Many people take the time to disconnect from technology and recharge.
Most people adjust easily by swallowing, yawning, or chewing gum. If you have trouble equalizing pressure on airplanes, let us know, and we’ll guide you through techniques to stay comfortable.
Some people feel energized and clear-headed, while others may feel slightly lightheaded as they adjust to normal oxygen levels. Many report sleeping better after treatment.
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting cotton clothing. For safety reasons, synthetic fabrics, perfumes, lotions, and jewelry are not allowed inside the chamber.
Medical Considerations & Safety
Oxygen toxicity seizures are rare and typically occur due to factors like low blood sugar or overheating. Our staff monitors all sessions to ensure a safe experience.
Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (mHBOT) uses lower pressure (1.3 ATA), while traditional HBOT uses higher pressure (up to 3.0 ATA) for more intensive oxygen delivery.
Yes, children can undergo HBOT with parental consent. Kids under 14 must be accompanied by an adult inside the chamber.
The most common side effect is temporary ear pressure or mild sinus discomfort. In rare cases, oxygen toxicity or temporary vision changes can occur with prolonged use.
Certain conditions, such as pneumothorax (collapsed lung), may prevent someone from safely undergoing HBOT. If you have concerns, consult with your healthcare provider.
Logistics & Cost
We recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to check in, use the restroom, and prepare for your session.
Insurance typically covers HBOT for FDA-approved conditions. We accept Medicare, Aetna, and Cigna for eligible treatments. Most off-label conditions require self-pay.
