Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a non-invasive medical treatment that involves breathing 100% pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber. This process increases oxygen levels in the bloodstream, allowing it to reach damaged tissues more efficiently. HBOT helps reduce inflammation, promote faster healing, boost immune function, and support overall wellness.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is FDA-approved for a range of medical conditions and is also research-supported for additional wellness applications. For FDA-approved conditions, HBOT may be covered by insurance, while research-supported treatments are available on a self-pay basis.
To explore the full list of conditions that HBOT can treat and determine whether your condition is insurance-covered or self-pay, visit our Conditions page or contact us at (302) 313-5555 to discuss your treatment options.
Yes, HBOT is a well-researched and FDA-approved therapy that has been used for decades in hospitals and medical centers worldwide. When administered by trained professionals, it is generally safe and well-tolerated.
- Common, mild side effects may include ear pressure (similar to flying in an airplane) and temporary fatigue after a session.
- Rare side effects may include temporary vision changes or mild sinus discomfort.
- Our team ensures a safe and monitored experience for every patient.
If you have any concerns, we recommend consulting with our specialists before beginning treatment.
Each HBOT session is designed to be a relaxing and comfortable experience.
- Step 1: Getting Ready – You’ll be guided into a comfortable hyperbaric chamber, where you can lie back, relax, and breathe pure oxygen.
- Step 2: Pressurization – The chamber slowly increases in pressure (similar to flying in a plane). You may feel a slight pressure in your ears, which can be relieved by swallowing or yawning.
- Step 3: Treatment Time – Sessions last 60-90 minutes, during which you can listen to music, meditate, nap, watch tv or simply relax.
- Step 4: Decompression – The chamber pressure slowly returns to normal, and you’ll be ready to continue your day.

The number of HBOT sessions depends on your condition, health goals, and response to treatment.
- For acute conditions (e.g., carbon monoxide poisoning, decompression sickness): Patients may only need a few sessions, while others need more.
- For chronic conditions (e.g., non-healing wounds, radiation injury, autoimmune disorders): 20-40 sessions may be recommended for optimal benefits, but more sessions may be necessary depending on the condition.
- For wellness & recovery (e.g., post-surgical healing, athletic recovery, anti-aging): A personalized treatment plan can be designed to fit your needs.
Our specialists will help determine the right treatment plan for you. Contact us at (302) 313-5555 for a consultation.
